Office of VPRC, IOT Organize Open Door Event aimed at Strengthening UIL
Hawassa University's Office of V/President for Research & Collaboration and Institute of Technology have organized an open door event aimed at strengthening University-industry linkage and signed MoUs for actionable collaborations.
Dr. Chirotaw Ayele, President of HU, stated that UIL is currently acclaimed to ensure sustainable national development by strengthening experience-based practical education for graduates and availing competent and skilled labour for the industry. He emphasized that HU is geared towards realizing national development goals by establishing strong collaboration with the industry.

Dr. Fasika Bete, Scientific Director of IOT, highlighted the ever growing commitment on both sides to work together over the years.
Mr. Hailu Yetera, CEO of Sidama Industry Park Development, in his key note speech called for strengthening UIL and commercialization of research to get ahead as a nation.
He underscored that a single institution alone cannot ensuring growth and prosperity, and strong UIL can support university autonomy to thrive as a source of science, knowledge and innovation for the industry.
The platform brought together government and private stakeholders to discuss potential collaboration areas and enabling legal grounds and structures and physical visit to different labs and incubation centers at IOT.
In conclusion, there was MoU signing ceremony between Hawassa University and five institutions namely: Sidama Machinery & Equipments Manufacturing share company; Hawassa Agri Manufacturing PLC; Sidama Science & Technology Agency; Sidama Construction Authority; and Yared Industrial Technology & Business College.
