Job-Fair (JFC-JF)

Job fairs serve as invaluable platforms for recent graduates to connect with potential employers and explore a range of career opportunities, including document preparation, internship placements, networking, and job openings. Hawassa University, in collaboration with the partners, has successfully organized three large-scale job fairs on campus, bringing together university representatives, job seekers, and employers. These events facilitated meaningful interactions, allowing all parties to benefit from the opportunities presented.

In the three large scales Job Fair, intensive works which included preparing students for event through ESJR and special course trainings, approaching potential employers, allocating human, physical and budget resources has been done by team composed of members from collaborating parties.

Across the four years, the 2024 Job Fair witnessed a significant surge with 55 potential employers involved. This suggests a potential increase in employer interest and effort made to bring the employer in the job fair during the year.

Similar to employer participation, 2024 saw the highest number of candidates, with 1450 individuals attending the job fair. This indicates growing awareness and interest among job seekers in the event.

The reduction in number of employers and candidates in 2022 Job Fair is mainly due to curriculum changes (Most departments/programs had no graduating class students).

The achievements of the implementation of various intervention programs, including training activities and job fair events has significantly contributed to improving graduate employment outcomes of Hawassa University graduates. These initiatives have played a crucial role in equipping graduates with the necessary skills and connecting them with potential employers.

The intervention programs implemented at Hawassa University have proven to be highly effective in improving graduate employment outcomes. More than 5,000 graduates have found employment through these initiatives, and each year, more graduates are getting jobs. This steady increase shows that the programs are effective in aiding graduates in their job search.

Fostering connections with employers and empowering graduates with essential skills, these initiatives have played a vital role in bridging the gap between academia and the workplace.
