It is with profound honor and enthusiasm that I welcome you to the official platform of the Hawassa University—the united voice and representative body of over seven campuses of our great institution. As the largest student-led structure within Hawassa University, HUSU is guided by a strong bylaw framework, a Youth Advisory Board, and a network of more than 20 vibrant clubs and associations. Together, we strive to make student life more meaningful, inclusive, and transformative.

Hawassa University is not only a center of academic excellence but also a hub of extracurricular engagement and youth leadership development. At HUSU, we believe education extends beyond the classroom. That is why our initiatives embrace areas such as entrepreneurship, incubating emerging leaders, peacebuilding, charity and community service, disability inclusion, women’s empowerment, Innovation,science and technology,Art and mental health awareness. Through these programs, we nurture well-rounded graduates who are prepared to lead with vision, integrity, and compassion.

Our Union also actively collaborates with external stakeholders, including the LPI,EPI,GİZ,UN,Sidama Region Youth Council (SRYC), the Ethiopian Higher Education Institutions Student Union (EHEISU), non-governmental organizations, and community partners. These collaborations expand opportunities for our students, amplify their voices, and strengthen our role in regional and national development.

We deeply recognize the unwavering support of Hawassa University’s top management, whose commitment enables us to operate efficiently and serve the student body with excellence. As HUSU, we see ourselves as a bridge between the University and its students—ensuring that concerns are heard, opportunities are shared, and the student community is empowered to thrive both academically and socially.
