Staff capacity building trainings
To equip students with the skills needed to thrive in today's competitive job market, the career readiness center offered comprehensive training programs. These sessions were led by experienced staff members who shared their expertise and industry insights. Beyond student training, the center prioritized the professional development of University academic staff. Collaborative workshops and training sessions were organized in partnership with the University and various developmental organizations.
A primary focus of the training programs was on gender and disability inclusion. The center aimed to create a welcoming and supportive environment where all students, regardless of their gender or disability status, had equal access to career opportunities and the necessary resources to succeed. To achieve this goal, trainers were required to adopt an inclusive mindset that recognized the importance of providing equal access to career center services for both female and students with disabilities.
To ensure that trainers were equipped with the knowledge and skills needed to promote inclusivity, the center in collaboration with partners provided specific trainings on gender and disability inclusion. These training sessions focused on understanding and addressing the unique challenges faced by students from marginalized groups and developing strategies to create a more equitable and inclusive career development experience.
In addition to gender and disability inclusion, the training sessions emphasized career readiness teaching. Faculty members were equipped with the skills to integrate career development into their curriculum, enabling them to prepare students for the workforce and help them achieve their career goals. By prioritizing both inclusivity and career readiness, the center played a crucial role in supporting students' success and promoting a more equitable and inclusive academic environment.
Another area of focus was green teaching. This training program helped faculty members learn how to utilize resources wisely to maximize the quality of their teaching, research, and service while minimizing waste. By adopting greener practices, the center aimed to promote sustainability and environmental responsibility within the academic community.
The soft skills training provided to academic staff not only equipped them with the skills necessary for success in the 21st century but also helped them thrive in their working environments. By investing in the professional development of both students and staff, the career readiness center played a vital role in preparing individuals for successful careers and contributing to a sustainable future.
