Accountable to the Office of the Vice President for Research and Collaboration, our mandate is to coordinate all university-led community engagement. We work collaboratively with local communities, government bodies, and civil society organizations to address pressing social, economic, and environmental challenges through participatory outreach, extension services, and community-based projects.

Our ultimate goal is to ensure the teaching, research, and innovation in the university directly improve livelihoods, promote social justice, and advance sustainable development.

Our Key Activities

To fulfill this mission, our work is organized into the following key areas:

Strategic Coordination and Management

• Plan, implement, monitor, and report on all university community service activities.
• Identify, prioritize, and address key community issues and agendas for intervention.
• Guide and support staff involved in providing community services.

Knowledge Exchange and Capacity Building

• Facilitate the transfer and application of knowledge and technology in key sectors: agriculture, natural resources, education, health, nutrition, and socio-economic development.
• Promote, popularize, and disseminate useful knowledge and technologies to the community.
• Establish collaborative relations to maximize the community’s use of university research results.

Partnership and Resource Development

• Build and sustain collaborative links to generate, transmit, and preserve knowledge for direct community and industry benefit.
• Solicit funds from external concerned bodies and internal university sources to support community service initiatives.
