The Academic Programs Directorate (APD) has the following major duties and responsibilities.

• Manages the entire teaching-learning cycle, ensuring efficient use of time and resources, from student registration through to graduation.
• Oversees all  activities related to teaching-learning, curriculum and staff development; and Follows up the execution of the officers’ duties and responsibilities and evaluate their performance and give feedback;
• Leads the design and implementation of educational quality plans, in collaboration with relevant units, to maintain and elevate academic standards.
• Supervises the execution of strategic and annual plans across the academic system, compiling performance reports of the colleges for the office of the Academic Vice President (AVP).
• Chairs regular forums with academic associate deans to resolve academic related issues, and chairs the directorate ensuring coordination among deans, directors, and internal staff.
• Assesses College/ Institute human power requirements, total volume of work, the current staff load and accordingly facilitate staff recruitment related payments including overload;
• Assesses and facilitates staffing needs (including recruitment and payments) and ensures the provision and maintenance of essential educational resources (labs, equipment, etc.).
• Researches and proposes academic policies and strategies for leadership endorsement, then oversees their implementation.
• Represents the directorate, prepares its annual plans and reports, evaluates staff performance, and advises the Academic Vice President on all academic matters.
• Performs any other relevant duties as assigned by the Academic Vice President.
