The Main Registrar (MRD) is a unit of the University responsible for: all operational matters pertaining to student admission, selection and placement, registration, keeping and analyzing the academic records and graduation.
The Main Registrar Directorate (MRD) has the following main duties and responsibilities:
- Prepares academic calendar, admission prospectus, student handbooks and University Catalogues, and maintaining official records of all students and study programs.
- Oversees the entire student journey from admission, registration, and academic record-keeping through to graduation, including the issuance of all transcripts, diplomas, and certificates.
- Creates and maintains confidential, systematic, permanent, and accurate student records and institutional data, while supporting university-wide data analysis.
- Without prejudice to the relevant provision of the Proclamation, and upon approval of the senate, consults the Ministry of Education on the intake capacity, admission, and sets university-wide general criteria for admission and placement;
- Ensures equitable observance of all pertinent laws, senate directives, and university legislation regarding admissions, curricula, and student guidelines.
- Serves as a custodian of the University's Common Seal, consulting with the Ministry of Education on capacity and criteria, and performing tasks as assigned by the Senate, President, and AVP.
- Performs such other relevant tasks as assigned by the Senate, President and AVP offices.
