The Continuing and Distance Education Directorate (CDED) has the following main duties and responsibilities:
- Coordinates all extension, summer and distance programs at the University level;
- Prepares academic calendar for all continuing education programs in consultation with the Main Registrar and oversees their implementations;
- Promotes the Continuing Education Programs of the Colleges/Institute for better student admission; disseminates information regarding available programs and important deadlines to the public.
- Collaborates with departments, colleges and other relevant sections of the university in managing the existing CDE programs and launching of new ones.
- Prepares annual plan of the directorate and its performance reports and submit that to the Office of Vice President for Academic Affairs and other concerned offices;
- Collaborates with respective college deans to evaluate and act upon recommendations regarding academic programs, candidate suitability, and related matters.
- Assesses and facilitates faculty needs (including staff assignment and payments) and ensures the provision and maintenance of essential educational resources.
- Ensures the effective implementation of the University’s policies and decisions, thereby administering continuing education programs to the standard of quality equivalent to the regular programs.
- Continually reviews and refines the incentive system to appropriately recognize contributions to Continuing and Distance Education, ensuring fairness for both contributors and students, who must receive commensurate value for their tuition investment.
- Carries out additional activities assigned to by the Academic Vice President.
