• Yosef served as President of Hawassa University from March. 2011- Sept 2016

 In addition to the President of Hawassa University, Prof. Yosef served as:-

• 2011- Feb. 2011: Served as Vice President for Administration and Student Services at Hawassa University.
• October-December 2011: Served as acting Vice President for Administration and Business Development at Hawassa University.
• August 2008-September 2011: Served as Director of Admission and Alumni Directorate of Hawassa University and Secretary of the University Senate.
• April 2008-July 2008: Served as Associate Registrar of Hawassa University.
• 2008 – Present: member of teaching staff at Biology Department, Hawassa University.
• June, 1997 - Dec. 2002: Served as a lecturer at the then Debub University, now Hawassa University, Wondo Genet College of Forestry.
• 1997 – Aug. 2002: Served as Head of Department of Basic Sciences at the then Debub University, Wondo Genet College of Forestry, in addition to teaching duty.
• 1992 - Jan. 1995: Served as Head of Department of Basic Sciences at the then Debub University, Wondo Genet College of Forestry; and member of the Academic Commission in addition to teaching duty.
• 1989 - Jan. 1995: Served as an assistant lecturer and then lecturer at the then Debub University, Wondo Genet College of Forestry, Ethiopia.

 MAIN ADMINISTRATIVE RESPONSIBILITIES HELD: 

• March 2011 to Sept 2016: Chairman of the Senate, the highest decision making body of  Hawassa University. 
• March 2011 to Sept 2016: Chairman of the Hawassa University’s University Council. 
• March 2011 to Sept 2016: Chairman of the Hawassa University’s Managing Council. 
• 1992 –Aug. 2002: Academic Commission member at Wondo Genet College of Forestry under the then Debub University, now Hawassa University.

  INVOLVED IN PROJECTS WRITING AND COORDINATION: 

• Co-authored and won internationally competitive research project grant in 2005. The project entitled “Biodiversity  Monitoring  in  Forest  Ecosystems  in  Bale  Mountains  National  Park,  Ethiopia,  A  Darwin  Initiative  Project  (14‐009,  Sept  2005  –  August  2008).”
• Coordinator of BOWCYA-III (Bureau of Women, Children and Youth Affairs) Project: The youth development package implementation and impact assessment project between 2013 and 2014.
• Coordinator of Norwegian Institutional support project (NORAD-III) to Ethiopia since March 2011 to present.
• Involved in drafting NORAD-IV project (2014-2018): An academic partnership for sustainable land management and improved livelihoods of the rural poor communities in the Rift Valley and arid highlands of Ethiopian.
• Supervisor of Norwegian Program for Capacity Development in Higher Education and Research for Development (NORHED) project since 2013 to present.
• Supervisor of Norwegian Program for ‘Research and Capacity building in climate smart agriculture in the Horn of Africa (NORHED-ETH-13/0016) project since 2013 to present.
• Coordinator of MRV-WGCF&NR project since 2014 to present
• Served as advisor and co-advisor for many post-graduate students including PhD students.
• Served as “external examiner” of post-graduate students.
• Actively involved and contributing professional and extracurricular services to the University under many committees.
• Taught many courses like: Wildlife Management; Wildlife Ecology; Wildlife Population Dynamics.
