Overview
The Vice President for Administration and Development (VPAD) of Hawassa University is responsible for providing strategic, administrative, and developmental leadership to ensure efficient service delivery and sustainable institutional growth. The VPAD oversees finance, human resources, procurement, property and asset management, campus development, general services, and other administrative departments.
The role ensures that Hawassa University’s administrative systems support high-quality teaching, research, technology transfer, community engagement, and internationalization. The VPAD ensures compliance with all Ethiopian Higher Education Proclamation directions, Ministry of Education (MoE) directives, Ministry of Finance (MoF) guidelines, and federal procurement and property management laws.
Key Roles and Responsibilities
- Oversee core administrative units, including finance, human resources, procurement, and general services.
- Lead campus operations, facilities management, and infrastructure development.
- Coordinate strategic planning and ensure alignment of administrative functions with the university’s mission.
- Manage resource mobilization, including partnerships, grants, fundraising, and donor relations.
- Supervise development projects, capital projects, and campus expansion initiatives.
- Ensure effective governance, regulatory compliance, and risk management across administrative units.
- Strengthen institutional systems for efficiency, accountability, and service quality.
- Represent the university in government, community, donor, and partner engagements related to administration and development
