Research Affairs Directorate

Our mission is to foster a vibrant research culture by facilitating multidisciplinary collaborations, supporting faculty and student researchers, and ensuring our research program align with national development priorities and the university’s strategic goals. We manage research funding and capacity-building programs to enhance HU’s contribution to knowledge generation, innovation, and evidence-based policy.

Through these efforts, the Directorate is committed to upholding the highest standards of research excellence, integrity, and impact.

Our Key Mandates

• To fulfill this mission, our core responsibilities include:

Strategic Leadership and Policy

• Develop and implement research policies, procedures, and strategic plans to advance institutional research excellence;
• Identify thematic research areas;

Program Management and Coordination

• Plan, organize, and oversee all university-funded research programs;
• Coordinate and monitor research activities across all colleges and institutes;
• Prepare the annual activity plan of the office and periodic university-wide research reports for the VPRC;

Funding and Administration

• Manage the end-to-end research grant cycle: issue calls for research proposals, facilitate review and approval processes, and allocate  budgets for committee-approved projects;
• Propose competitive incentive mechanisms  to reward breakthrough research by staff and postgraduate students;

Dissemination and Impact

• Facilitate the dissemination of research findings to end-users, policymakers, and the scientific community
