Overview

The Vehicle Garage &Transportation Services Executive provides strategic and operational leadership for all transportation and vehicle maintenance services at Hawassa University. It oversees the management, maintenance, safety, and optimal utilization of the university’s vehicle fleet, garage operations, and transport logistics. Ensure that transportation services effectively support academic, research, administrative, and community engagement activities while maintaining high standards of safety, efficiency, cost control, and regulatory compliance.

Key Roles and Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the university's transport services, including vehicle dispatching, routing, scheduling, and driver supervision.
• Oversee garage operations, preventive maintenance, repairs, and servicing of all university vehicles and equipment.
• Develop and implement transportation policies, garage operational standards, and fleet management procedures.
• Ensure compliance with national transport regulations, vehicle safety standards, and university policies.
• Maintain a comprehensive fleet management system covering asset tracking, service records, fuel management, and cost monitoring.
• Optimize vehicle utilization and fuel efficiency while reducing downtime and repair costs.
• Plan and manage the budget for transport and garage services, ensuring cost-effectiveness and accountability.
• Lead procurement processes for vehicle spare parts, tools, lubricants, and transport-related supplies.
• Train and supervise drivers, mechanics, and technical personnel; ensure safety protocols and ethical standards are upheld.
• Coordinate transport support for academic fieldwork, research projects, official missions, community service programs, and logistics needs.
• Prepare periodic reports on fleet performance, fuel consumption, maintenance expenditures, and service quality.
